I must say, I was getting a little bit bored by the same old Balmain shows for the last couple of seasons. By the same old I’m thinking of the same formula (former) designer Christophe Decarnin had used for every season - sexy, tight, short, shiny, distressed, embroidered, big shoulders etc. You don’t have to be a fashion expert to recognize a picture from the Balmain show. This Balmain formula has caused a serious Balmania amongst fashionistas who are paying serious amounts of money to wear items by this famous French designer (does that infamous distressed basic military t-shirt with a price tag of around 1,000 € ring a bell?)

Don’t get me wrong, I was still loving each and every collection by mister Decarnin and always eagerly anticipated a Balmain show during PFW. Why fix something if it isn’t broken? In this case, definitely true. And the new designer for Balmain, Olivier Rousteing, knows it too.

His first collection for Balmain definitely contains recognizable Balmain touch. And I love it, beginning to end. Beautiful colored dresses, interesting skirts paired with a basic tee, embellished blazers, flor-length skirts, jumpsuits and dresses. Touch of gold and fringe here and there and voilà, you have a perfect resort collection!

This Resort collection makes me excited to see more from Rousteing and Balmain. Balmania is officially back.
